| Expert
group: Methodology - Outreach, A-Klinikka |
| Background
( description of the situation and the field the activity takes
place) |
| Outreach
is one of the most important tools to approach hard-to-reach
target groups. Various outreach methods have been developed
in the past decades, all of them more or less addressed to specific
target groups. Outreach methods, which are used for approaching
drug users might differ a lot from those, used in the work with
sex workers or youngsters. Although there is useful experience
in the different areas, there is no exchange or dialogue between
the different working fields. |
| Aims/Goals |
The
expert group on outreach methods tries to bridge this gap. Different
methods from different working fields will be compared with
each other, by evaluating the usability and the effectiveness
in the different areas. An outreach manual will be developed
with useful information on the distinctive methods (e.g. requirements
for the service provider, effectiveness of outreach methods
in different areas,..) and the possibilities of implementation.
Besides, a practical implementation will be supervised and evaluated.
The Snowball operation in Finland, targeting Russian speaking
drug users will function as model of good practice. |
