Expert
group: Research – RIDS
|
| Background
( description of the expert group coordinator) |
The
Research Institute on Drug Studies (RIDS) is a university-based
research centre. It is the primary consulting body on methodological
issues in the network and will evaluate the process and outcomes
and carry out research related to the issues of the network.
RIDS will be involved in all activities in order to give/provide
scientific evidence to activities aiming to close the gap between
marginalised hard-to-reach groups and the mainstream society.
In order to support the effectiveness of these activities, RIDS
will initialize the development of guidelines of HR methodology. |
| Aims/Goals |
| The
primary goal or overall aim of this expert group is to accompany
the network activities. In the group, the methodology of research
tasks and the evaluation will be discussed, questionnaires for
the evaluation and research tools will be developed and special
research tasks will be delegated to participants by agreement.
The expert group is the feedback and reference body for RIDS
and supports RIDS during the project period. |
| Objectives/activities |
| As
the research part plays a complex role in the Correlation Network,
the expert group will support and carry out various activities:
it evaluates the individual implementations as well as the whole
project, it designs and co-ordinates research activities, it
participates in the development of a protocol draft for annual
activity reports as regards service-based data monitoring at
low-threshold services in the European Union (mapping), and
it may carry out additional independent research in the related
field (marginalisation, hard-to-reach groups). |
| Methods |
| RIDS
will basically apply quantitative and qualitative methods in
the research activities and both in the formative and summative
evaluation process. RIDS, along with the research expert group,
will support and supervise the evaluation-type activities of
the participating organizations and ask them to give feedback
about their activity. The main working method will be structured
e-mail discussions and exchange of working documents, probably
through a dedicated website. |
| Results/outputs |
| The
outputs produced by RIDS will largely vary according to the
products the Correlation network will produce. Therefore the
range of products is wide: it includes research study reports,
evaluation reports, best-practice descriptions, protocol draft
for data collection on low-threshold agencies’ services
and facilities. |
