 Background steam Research

Service providers are constantly developing, copying and implementing new services. Most of the times, these implementations are carried out, because individual agencies identify specific needs among the target group. Subsequently a specific methodology is adopted, which is considered to be effective. However, lack of time, financial limitations or lack of expertise make service providers fail by evaluating and measuring the different services provided. Existing research is not available and there is no link to research agencies. Furthermore, standard data collection tools are not available or are not used properly. Therefore, it is hard to give evident based information on access and effectiveness of the provided services.

Tasks of the stream:
  • The research stream – conducted by the Research Institute on Drug Studies (RIDS) in Budapest - will carry out research in the field of harm reduction and access to services and support service providers in methodological questions.
  • The research stream accompanies, supervises and evaluates all activities and implementations of the project in order to identify and analyze models of good practice. The members of the research stream are involved in the different expert groups and guarantee evident based interventions and activities on various levels.
(see expert group Evaluation and Research)
  • Development and implementation of a Data Report System for low-threshold services in cooperation with the EMCDDA
(see expert group Data Report System)
