Correlation Policy Seminar in June 2007, Budapest

In June 2007, the Correlation policy group will organize a skill building workshop on the topic of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) in Budapest with the practical support of the Hungarian Civil Liberty Union.

Realizing how important effective M&E has become for the consistency and growth of service delivery organizations, the topic was defined as a common point of interest of policy group members during the Dublin seminar in October 2006. Wanting to deliver adequate services to service users, managing incoming information and processing it for means of internal (programmatic and acquisitory) and external use (influencing policy-making), it is crucial that monitoring and evaluation is an integral and genuine part of the set up of a professional organization. Obviously, each organization adapts monitoring and evaluation tools to their needs and resources. After all, they are tools for a specific purpose and have little meaning in itself. However, general rules and good practices for adequate and effective M&E can be defined and aid can be given for the integration of monitoring and evaluation tools in the daily implementation process of good service delivery.

The skill building seminar is meant to lower barriers to integrate monitoring in the implementation of daily work and to use the results of evaluation for multiple purposes: e.g. for quality management and the amelioration of service delivery, the securing of sufficient funds for future activities, and not at least for influencing of policy for structural improvement. The workshop will be provided by M&E experts from international renowned institutions.
